The myth of “getting your core back”

There’s so much pressure to “get your abs back” after surgery. But a flat stomach doesn’t mean a strong, functional core.

In fact, chasing aesthetic goals too early can delay healing and deepen dysfunction.

True core strength starts from the inside out:

  • Can you coordinate your breath and pelvic floor?

  • Can your deep core activate before movement begins?

  • Can your body stabilize without gripping or bracing?

These are the markers of healing. The appearance will follow, but function comes first. You deserve a core that works, not just one that looks a certain way.
