When sex feels different after hysterectomy

After a hysterectomy, it’s common for sex to feel different: physically, emotionally, or both.

Changes in lubrication, scar tissue tension, hormone shifts, and body image can all influence how intimacy feels. It’s not about “bouncing back.”

It’s about rediscovering safety, pleasure, and connection in a new chapter.

Give yourself permission to go slow.

Use communication, lubricant, support tools, and most importantly: curiosity instead of pressure.

You’re allowed to heal, explore, and redefine intimacy on your own terms.
