When will I feel "normal" again?

"When will I feel normal again?" It's the question I hear often, usually asked with a mix of hope and frustration.

My honest answer? You'll feel a new normal.

Your body has gone through a significant change (especially if you have a hysterectomy – your body is permanently changed!), and while you'll absolutely feel healthy, strong, and vibrant again, expecting to feel exactly like you did before surgery might set you up for disappointment.

The good news is that for many women, this "new normal" is actually better than before.

Without the pain, bleeding, or other symptoms that led to surgery, you may discover energy and capabilities you haven't experienced in years… even if other things feel different.

What does "feeling normal" mean to you?

Is it energy levels, absence of pain, returning to certain activities, or something else entirely? Understanding your personal definition helps create a more meaningful recovery plan.
